[bbe] And, hearing of it, Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who was still in Egypt, where he had gone in flight from Solomon, and was living there, came back to his town Zeredah, in the hill-country of Ephraim;

[bbe] Your father put a hard yoke on us: if you will make the conditions under which your father kept us down less cruel, and the weight of the yoke he put on us less hard, then we will be your servants.
[dunv] 你父親<01>使我們負重軛<05923>，做苦工<07185><8689>，現在求你使<05414><8804>{<01>}我們做的苦<07186>工<05656>、負的重<03515>軛<05923>輕鬆些<07043><8685>，我們就事奉<05647><8799>你。
[big5] 羅波安對他們說：你們暫且去，第三日再來見我。民就去了。
[bbe] And he said to them, Go away for three days and then come back to me again. So the people went away.

[bbe] Then King Rehoboam took the opinion of the old men who had been with Solomon his father when he was living, and said, In your opinion, what answer am I to give to this people?

[big5] 老年人對他說：現在王若服事這民如僕人，用好話回答他們，他們就永遠作王的僕人。
[bbe] And they said to him, If you will be a servant to this people today, caring for them and giving them a gentle answer, then they will be your servants for ever.
[dunv] 老年人對他說<01696><8762><0559><8800>：現在<03117>王若服事<05647><8804>這民<05971>如僕人<05650>，用好<02896>話<01697>回答<06030><8804>{<01696>}{<8765>}他們，他們就永遠<03117>作王的僕人<05650>。
[big5] 王卻不用老年人給他出的主意，就和那些與他一同長大、在他面前侍立的少年人商議，
[bbe] But he gave no attention to the opinion of the old men, and went to the young men of his generation who were waiting before him:

[bbe] And said to them, What is your opinion? What answer are we to give to this people who have said to me, Make less the weight of the yoke which your father put on us?
[dunv] 說<0559><8799>：這民對我說<01696><8765>{<0559>}{<8800>}：你父親<01>使<05414><8804>我們負重軛<05923>，求你使我們輕鬆些<07043><8685>。你們給我出個甚麼主意<03289><8737>，我好{<07725>}{<8686>}回覆<01697>他們{<05971>}。
[big5] 那同他長大的少年人說：這民對王說：你父親使我們負重軛，求你使我們輕鬆些。王要對他們如此說：我的小拇指頭比我父親的腰還粗。
[bbe] And the young men of his generation said to him, This is the answer to give to the people who came to you saying, Your father put a hard yoke on us; will you make it less? say to them, My little finger is thicker than my father's body;
[dunv] 那同他長大<01431><8804>的少年人<03206>說<01696><8762><0559><8800>：這民<05971>對王說<01696><8765><0559><8800>：你父親<01>使我們負<03513><8689>重軛<05923>，求你使我們輕鬆些<07043><8685>。王要對他們如此說<0559><8799><01696><8762>：我的小<06995>拇指頭比我父親<01>的腰<04975>還粗<05666><8804>。
[big5] 我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛！我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們！
[bbe] If my father put a hard yoke on you, I will make it harder: my father gave you punishment with whips, but I will give you blows with snakes.
[dunv] 我父親<01>使你們負<06006><8689>重<03515>軛<05923>，我必使你們負更重<03254><8686>的軛<05923>！我父親<01>用鞭子<07752>責打<03256><8765>你們，我要用蠍子鞭<06137>責打<03256><8762>你們！
[big5] 耶羅波安和眾百姓遵著羅波安王所說你們第三日再來見我的那話，第三日他們果然來了。
[bbe] So all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had given orders, saying, Come back to me the third day.
[dunv] 耶羅波安<03379>和眾百姓<05971>遵著羅波安<07346>王<04428>所說<01696><8765>你們第三<07992>日<03117>再來<07725><8798>見我的那話<0559><8800>，第三<07992>日<03117>他們果然來了<0935><8799>。
[big5] 王用嚴厲的話回答百姓，不用老年人給他所出的主意，
[bbe] And the king gave them a rough answer, giving no attention to the suggestion of the old men;

[big5] 照著少年人所出的主意對民說：我父親使你們負重軛，我必使你們負更重的軛！我父親用鞭子責打你們，我要用蠍子鞭責打你們！
[bbe] But giving them the answer put forward by the young men, saying, My father made your yoke hard, but I will make it harder; my father gave you punishment with whips, but I will give it with snakes.
[dunv] 照著少年人<03206>所出的主意<06098>對民說<01696><8762><0559><8800>：我父親<01>使你們負重<03513><8689>軛<05923>，我必使你們負更重<03254><8686>的軛<05923>！我父親<01>用鞭子<07752>責打<03256><8765>你們，我要用蠍子鞭<06137>責打<03256><8765>你們！
[big5] 王不肯依從百姓，這事乃出於耶和華，為要應驗他藉示羅人亞希雅對尼八的兒子耶羅波安所說的話。
[bbe] So the king did not give ear to the people; and this came about by the purpose of the Lord, so that what he had said by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam, son of Nebat, might be effected.
[dunv] 王<04428>不肯依從<08085><8804>百姓<05971>，這事<05438>乃出於耶和華<03068>，為要應驗<06965><8687>他{<03068>}藉<03027>示羅人<07888>亞希雅<0281>對尼八<05028>的兒子<01121>耶羅波安<03379>所說<01696><8765>的話<01697>。
[big5] 以色列眾民見王不依從他們，就對王說：我們與大衛有什麼分兒呢？與耶西的兒子並沒有關涉。以色列人哪，各回各家去吧！大衛家啊，自己顧自己吧！於是，以色列人都回自己家裡去了，
[bbe] And when all Israel saw that the king would give no attention to them, the people in answer said to the king, What part have we in David? what is our heritage in the son of Jesse? to your tents, O Israel; now see to your people, David. So Israel went away to their tents.

[big5] 惟獨住猶大城邑的以色列人，羅波安仍作他們的王。
[bbe] (But Rehoboam was still king over those of the children of Israel who were living in the towns of Judah.)
[dunv] 惟獨住<03427><8802>猶大<03063>城邑<05892>的以色列<03478>人<01121>，羅波安<07346>仍作他們的王<04427><8799>。
[big5] 羅波安王差遣掌管服苦之人的亞多蘭往以色列人那裡去，以色列人就用石頭打死他。羅波安王急忙上車，逃回耶路撒冷去了。
[bbe] Then King Rehoboam sent Adoniram, the overseer of the forced work; and he was stoned to death by all Israel. And King Rehoboam went quickly and got into his carriage to go in flight to Jerusalem.

[bbe] So Israel was turned away from the family of David to this day.

[big5] 以色列眾人聽見耶羅波安回來了，就打發人去請他到會眾面前，立他作以色列眾人的王。除了猶大支派以外，沒有順從大衛家的。
[bbe] Now when all Israel had news that Jeroboam had come back, they sent for him to come before the meeting of the people, and made him king over Israel: not one of them was joined to the family of David but only the tribe of Judah.
[dunv] 以色列眾人<03478>聽見<08085><8800>耶羅波安<03379>回來了<07725><8804>，就打發<07971><8799>人去請<07121><8799>他到會眾<05712>面前，立他作以色列眾人<03478>的王<04427><8686>。除了<02108>猶大<03063>支派<07626>以外，沒有順從<0310>大衛<01732>家<01004>的。
[big5] 羅波安來到耶路撒冷，招聚猶大全家和便雅憫支派的人共十八萬，都是挑選的戰士，要與以色列家爭戰，好將國奪回，再歸所羅門的兒子羅波安。
[bbe] When Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he got together all the men of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand of his best fighting-men, to make war against Israel and get the kingdom back for Rehoboam, the son of Solomon.
[dunv] 羅波安<07346>來到<0935><8799>耶路撒冷<03389>，招聚<06950><8686>猶大<03063>全家<01004>和便雅憫<01144>支派<07626>的人共十八萬<03967><08084><0505>，都是挑選<0977><8803>的戰士<06213><8802><04421>，要與以色列<03478>家<01004>爭戰<03898><8736>，好將國<04410>奪回<07725><8687>，再歸所羅門<08010>的兒子<01121>羅波安<07346>。
[big5] 但神的話臨到神人示瑪雅，說：
[bbe] But the word of God came to Shemaiah, the man of God, saying,

[big5] 你去告訴所羅門的兒子猶大王羅波安和猶大、便雅憫全家，並其餘的民說：
[bbe] Say to Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the men of Judah and Benjamin and the rest of the people:
[dunv] 你去告訴<0559><8798>所羅門<08010>的兒子<01121>猶大<03063>王<04428>羅波安<07346>和猶大<03063>、便雅憫<01144>全家<01004>，並其餘<03499>的民<05971>說<0559><8800>：
[big5] 耶和華如此說：你們不可上去與你們的弟兄以色列人爭戰。各歸各家去吧！因為這事出於我。眾人就聽從耶和華的話，遵著耶和華的命回去了。
[bbe] The Lord has said, You are not to go to war against your brothers, the children of Israel; go back, every man to his house, because this thing is my purpose. So they gave ear to the word of the Lord, and went back, as the Lord had said.
[dunv] 耶和華<03068>如此說<0559><8804>：你們不可上去<05927><8799>與你們的弟兄<0251>以色列<03478>人<01121>爭戰<03898><8735>。各<0376>歸<07725><8798>各家<01004>去罷！因為這事<01697>{<01961>}{<8738>}出於我。眾人就聽從<08085><8799>耶和華<03068>的話<01697>，遵著耶和華<03068>的命<01697>回去了<07725><8799><03212><8800>。
[big5] 耶羅波安在以法蓮山地建築示劍，就住在其中；又從示劍出去，建築毘努伊勒。
[bbe] Then Jeroboam made the town of Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim a strong place, and was living there; and from there he went out and did the same to Penuel.
[dunv] 耶羅波安<03379>在以法蓮<0669>山地<02022>建築<01129><8799>示劍<07927>，就住<03427><8799>在其中；又從示劍出去<03318><8799>，建築<01129><8799>毗努伊勒<06439>。
[big5] 耶羅波安心裡說：恐怕這國仍歸大衛家；
[bbe] And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now the kingdom will go back to the family of David:
[dunv] 耶羅波安<03379>心裡<03820>說<0559><8799>：恐怕這國<04467>仍歸<07725><8799>大衛<01732>家<01004>；
[big5] 這民若上耶路撒冷去，在耶和華的殿裡獻祭，他們的心必歸向他們的主─猶大王羅波安，就把我殺了，仍歸猶大王羅波安。
[bbe] If the people go up to make offerings in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, their heart will be turned again to their lord, to Rehoboam, king of Judah; and they will put me to death and go back to Rehoboam, king of Judah.
[dunv] 這民<05971>若上<05927><8799>耶路撒冷<03389>去，在耶和華<03068>的殿<01004>裡獻<06213><8800>祭<02077>，他們{<05971>}的心<03820>必歸向<07725><8804>他們的主<0113>─猶大<03063>王<04428>羅波安<07346>，就把我殺了<02026><8804>，仍歸<07725><8804>猶大<03063>王<04428>羅波安<07346>。
[big5] 耶羅波安王就籌劃定妥，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在是難；這就是領你們出埃及地的神。
[bbe] So after taking thought the king made two oxen of gold; and he said to the people, You have been going up to Jerusalem long enough; see! these are your gods, O Israel, who took you out of the land of Egypt.
[dunv] 耶羅波安王<04428>就籌劃<03289><8735>定妥，鑄造了<06213><8799>兩個<08147>金<02091>牛犢<05695>，對眾民說<0559><8799>：以色列人<03478>哪，你們上<05927><8800>耶路撒冷<03389>去實在是難<07227>；這就是領你們出<05927><8689>埃及<04714>地<0776>的神<0430>。

[bbe] And he put one in Beth-el and the other in Dan.

[big5] 這事叫百姓陷在罪裡，因為他們往但去拜那牛犢。
[bbe] And this became a sin in Israel; for the people went to give worship to the one at Beth-el, and to the other at Dan.

[big5] 耶羅波安在邱壇那裡建殿，將那不屬利未人的凡民立為祭司。
[bbe] And he made places for worship at the high places, and made priests, who were not Levites, from among all the people.

[bbe] And Jeroboam gave orders for a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast which is kept in Judah, and he went up to the altar. And in the same way, in Beth-el, he gave offerings to the oxen which he had made, placing in Beth-el the priests of the high places he had made.

[bbe] He went up to the altar he had made in Beth-el on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, the month fixed by him at his pleasure; and he gave orders for a feast for the people of Israel, and went up to the altar, and there he made the smoke of his offerings go up.
