1. [big5] 耶穌過去的時候，看見一個人生來是瞎眼的。
   [bbe] And when he went on his way, he saw a man blind from birth.
   

2. [big5] 門徒問耶穌說：拉比，這人生來是瞎眼的，是誰犯了罪？是這人呢？是他父母呢？
   [bbe] And his disciples put a question to him, saying, Master, was it because of this man's sin, or the sin of his father and mother, that he has been blind from birth?
   

3. [big5] 耶穌回答說：也不是這人犯了罪，也不是他父母犯了罪，是要在他身上顯出神的作為來。
   [bbe] Jesus said in answer, It was not because of his sin, or because of his father's or mother's; it was so that the works of God might be seen openly in him.
   

4. [big5] 趁著白日，我們必須做那差我來者的工；黑夜將到，就沒有人能做工了。
   [bbe] While it is day we have to do the works of him who sent me: the night comes when no work may be done.
   

5. [big5] 我在世上的時候，是世上的光。
   [bbe] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
   

6. [big5] 耶穌說了這話，就吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和泥抹在瞎子的眼睛上，
   [bbe] Having said these words, he put earth, mixed with water from his mouth, on the man's eyes,
   

7. [big5] 對他說：你往西羅亞池子裡去洗（西羅亞翻出來就是奉差遣）。他去一洗，回頭就看見了。
   [bbe] And said to him, Go and make yourself clean in the bath of Siloam (the sense of the name is, Sent). So he went away and, after washing, came back able to see.
   

8. [big5] 他的鄰舍和那素常見他是討飯的，就說：這不是那從前坐著討飯的人嗎？
   [bbe] Then the neighbours and others who had seen him before in the street, with his hand out for money, said, Is not this the man who got money from people?
   

9. [big5] 有人說：是他；又有人說；不是，卻是像他。他自己說：是我。
   [bbe] Some said, It is he: others said, No, but he is like him. He said, I am he.
   

10. [big5] 他們對他說：你的眼睛是怎麼開的呢？
    [bbe] So they said to him, How then were your eyes made open?
    

11. [big5] 他回答說：有一個人，名叫耶穌，他和泥抹我的眼睛，對我說：你往西羅亞池子去洗。我去一洗，就看見了。
    [bbe] His answer was: The man who is named Jesus put earth mixed with water on my eyes, and said to me, Go and make yourself clean in Siloam: so I went away and, after washing, am now able to see.
    

12. [big5] 他們說：那個人在哪裡？他說：我不知道。
    [bbe] And they said to him, Where is he? His answer was: I have no knowledge.
    

13. [big5] 他們把從前瞎眼的人帶到法利賽人那裡。
    [bbe] They took him before the Pharisees--this man who had been blind.
    

14. [big5] 耶穌和泥開他眼睛的日子是安息日。
    [bbe] Now the day on which the earth was mixed by Jesus and the man's eyes were made open was the Sabbath.
    

15. [big5] 法利賽人也問他是怎麼得看見的。瞎子對他們說：他把泥抹在我的眼睛上，我去一洗，就看見了。
    [bbe] So the Pharisees put more questions to him about how his eyes had been made open. And he said to them, He put earth on my eyes, and I had a wash and am able to see.
    

16. [big5] 法利賽人中有的說：這個人不是從神來的，因為他不守安息日。又有人說：一個罪人怎能行這樣的神蹟呢？他們就起了紛爭。
    [bbe] Then some of the Pharisees said, That man has not come from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath. Others said, How is it possible for a sinner to do such signs? So there was a division among them.
    

17. [big5] 他們又對瞎子說：他既然開了你的眼睛，你說他是怎樣的人呢？他說：是個先知。
    [bbe] Again they said to the blind man, What have you to say about him for opening your eyes? And he said, He is a prophet.
    

18. [big5] 猶太人不信他從前是瞎眼，後來能看見的，等到叫了他的父母來，
    [bbe] Now the Jews had no belief in the statement that he had been blind and was now able to see, till they sent for the father and mother of the man whose eyes had been made open,
    

19. [big5] 問他們說：這是你們的兒子嗎？你們說他生來是瞎眼的，如今怎麼能看見了呢？
    [bbe] And put the question to them, saying, Is this your son, of whom you say that he was blind at birth? how is it then that he is now able to see?
    

20. [big5] 他父母回答說：他是我們的兒子，生來就瞎眼，這是我們知道的。
    [bbe] In answer his father and mother said, We are certain that this is our son and that he was blind at birth:
    

21. [big5] 至於他如今怎麼能看見，我們卻不知道；是誰開了他的眼睛，我們也不知道。他已經成了人，你們問他吧，他自己必能說。
    [bbe] But how it is he is now able to see, or who made his eyes open, we are not able to say: put the question to him; he is old enough to give an answer for himself.
    

22. [big5] 他父母說這話，是怕猶太人；因為猶太人已經商議定了，若有認耶穌是基督的，要把他趕出會堂。
    [bbe] They said this because of their fear of the Jews: for the Jews had come to an agreement that if any man said that Jesus was the Christ he would be put out of the Synagogue.
    

23. [big5] 因此他父母說：他已經成了人，你們問他吧。
    [bbe] That was the reason why they said, He is old enough; put the question to him.
    

24. [big5] 所以法利賽人第二次叫了那從前瞎眼的人來，對他說：你該將榮耀歸給神，我們知道這人是個罪人。
    [bbe] So they sent a second time for the man who had been blind and they said to him, Give glory to God: it is clear to us that this man is a sinner.
    

25. [big5] 他說：他是個罪人不是，我不知道；有一件事我知道，從前我是眼瞎的，如今能看見了。
    [bbe] He said in answer, I have no knowledge if he is a sinner or not, but one thing I am certain about; I was blind, and now I see.
    

26. [big5] 他們就問他說：他向你做什麼？是怎麼開了你的眼睛呢？
    [bbe] Then they said to him, What did he do to you? how did he give you the use of your eyes?
    

27. [big5] 他回答說：我方才告訴你們，你們不聽，為什麼又要聽呢？莫非你們也要作他的門徒嗎？
    [bbe] His answer was: I have said it before, but your ears were shut: why would you have me say it again? is it your desire to become his disciples?
    

28. [big5] 他們就罵他說：你是他的門徒；我們是摩西的門徒。
    [bbe] And they were angry with him and said, You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
    

29. [big5] 神對摩西說話是我們知道的；只是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裡來！
    [bbe] We are certain that God gave his word to Moses: but as for this man, we have no knowledge where he comes from.
    

30. [big5] 那人回答說：他開了我的眼睛，你們竟不知道他從哪裡來，這真是奇怪！
    [bbe] The man said in answer, Why, here is a strange thing! You have no knowledge where he comes from though he gave me the use of my eyes.
    

31. [big5] 我們知道神不聽罪人，惟有敬奉神、遵行他旨意的，神才聽他。
    [bbe] We have knowledge that God does not give ear to sinners, but if any man is a worshipper of God and does his pleasure, to him God's ears are open.
    

32. [big5] 從創世以來，未曾聽見有人把生來是瞎子的眼睛開了。
    [bbe] In all the years nobody has ever before seen the eyes of a man blind from birth made open.
    

33. [big5] 這人若不是從神來的，什麼也不能做。
    [bbe] If this man did not come from God he would be unable to do anything.
    

34. [big5] 他們回答說：你全然生在罪孽中，還要教訓我們嗎？於是把他趕出去了。
    [bbe] Their answer was: You came to birth through sin; do you make yourself our teacher? And they put him out of the Synagogue.
    

35. [big5] 耶穌聽說他們把他趕出去，後來遇見他，就說：你信神的兒子嗎？
    [bbe] It came to the ears of Jesus that they had put him out, and meeting him he said, Have you faith in the Son of man?
    

36. [big5] 他回答說：主啊，誰是神的兒子，叫我信他呢？
    [bbe] He said in answer, And who is he, Lord? Say, so that I may have faith in him.
    

37. [big5] 耶穌說：你已經看見他，現在和你說話的就是他。
    [bbe] Jesus said to him, You have seen him; it is he who is talking to you.
    

38. [big5] 他說：主啊，我信！就拜耶穌。
    [bbe] And he said, Lord, I have faith. And he gave him worship.
    

39. [big5] 耶穌說：我為審判到這世上來，叫不能看見的，可以看見；能看見的，反瞎了眼。
    [bbe] And Jesus said, I came into this world to be a judge, so that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.
    

40. [big5] 同他在那裡的法利賽人聽見這話，就說：難道我們也瞎了眼嗎？
    [bbe] These words came to the ears of the Pharisees who were with him and they said to him, Are we, then, blind?
    

41. [big5] 耶穌對他們說：你們若瞎了眼，就沒有罪了；但如今你們說我們能看見，所以你們的罪還在。
    [bbe] Jesus said to them, If you were blind you would have no sin: but now that you say, We see; your sin is there still.
