1) 一個本鄉人住在比珥﹐一個美索不達米亞的城市, 被耶和華賦予他   
   預言的能力. 他被巴勒請去咒詛以色列民; 也因為貪愛獎賞﹐他希望   
   使巴勒滿意﹔但是他被耶和華的力量強迫去祝福他們。所以之後   
   猶太人將他看作是一個最無恥的欺騙者。

Balaam meaning "perhaps" 
1) A native of Pethor a city in Mesopotamia, endued by Jehovah with 
   prophetic power. He was hired by Balak to curse the Israelites; 
   and influenced by the love of reward, he wished to gratify Balak; 
   but he was compelled by Jehovah's power to bless them. Hence 
   later the Jews saw him as a most abandoned deceiver.
