   1a) 用來指在至聖所中約櫃的蓋子, 在每年的贖罪祭的日子, 贖罪祭的祭牲的血被灑在這蓋上,   
       這個儀式代表人因罪所當失喪的生命, 已藉這犧牲的血而償給了上帝, 神的忿恕因此儀式而   
       得了挽回而人的罪也得到償贖; 所以這裡指這贖罪的寶座, 有贖罪和解的意思

       they had merited by their sins, was offered to God in the 
       blood as the life of the victim, and that God by this 
       ceremony was appeased and their sins expiated); hence the 
       lid of expiation, the propitiatory
