[bbe] Now Jacob was living in the land where his father had made a place for himself, in the land of Canaan.

[bbe] These are the generations of Jacob: Joseph, a boy seventeen years old, was looking after the flock, together with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, his father's wives; and Joseph gave their father a bad account of them.

[bbe] Now the love which Israel had for Joseph was greater than his love for all his other children, because he got him when he was an old man: and he had a long coat made for him.

[bbe] And because his brothers saw that Joseph was dearer to his father than all the others, they were full of hate for him, and would not say a kind word to him.

[bbe] Now Joseph had a dream, and he gave his brothers an account of it, which made their hate greater than ever.

[bbe] We were in the field, getting the grain stems together, and my grain kept upright, and yours came round and went down on the earth before mine.

[big5] 他的哥哥們回答說：難道你真要作我們的王嗎？難道你真要管轄我們嗎？他們就因為他的夢和他的話越發恨他。
[bbe] And his brothers said to him, Are you to be our king? will you have authority over us? And because of his dream and his words, their hate for him became greater than ever.

[big5] 後來他又做了一夢，也告訴他的哥哥們說：看哪，我又做了一夢，夢見太陽、月亮，與十一個星向我下拜。
[bbe] Then he had another dream, and gave his brothers an account of it, saying, I have had another dream: the sun and the moon and eleven stars gave honour to me.

[big5] 約瑟將這夢告訴他父親和他哥哥們，他父親就責備他說：你做的這是什麼夢！難道我和你母親、你弟兄果然要來俯伏在地，向你下拜嗎？
[bbe] And he gave word of it to his father and his brothers; but his father protesting said, What sort of a dream is this? am I and your mother and your brothers to go down on our faces to the earth before you?

[bbe] And his brothers were full of envy; but his father kept his words in mind.

[bbe] Now his brothers went to keep watch over their father's flock in Shechem.

[big5] 以色列對約瑟說：你哥哥們不是在示劍放羊嗎？你來，我要打發你往他們那裡去。約瑟說：我在這裡。
[bbe] And Israel said to Joseph, Are not your brothers with the flock in Shechem? come, I will send you to them. And he said to him, Here am I.

[big5] 以色列說：你去看看你哥哥們平安不平安，群羊平安不平安，就回來報信給我；於是打發他出希伯崙谷，他就往示劍去了。
[bbe] And he said to him, Go now, and see if your brothers are well and how the flock is; then come back and give me word. So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

[big5] 有人遇見他在田野走迷了路，就問他說：你找什麼？
[bbe] And a man saw him wandering in the country, and said to him, What are you looking for?
[dunv] 有人<0376>遇見他<04672><8799>{<02009>}在田野<07704>走迷了路<08582><8802>，{<0376>}就問他<07592><8799>說<0559><8800>：你找<01245><8762>甚麼<04100>？
[big5] 他說：我找我的哥哥們，求你告訴我，他們在何處放羊。
[bbe] And he said, I am looking for my brothers; please give me word of where they are keeping their flock.
[dunv] 他說<0559><8799>：我<0595>找<01245><8764>我的哥哥們<0251>，求你<04994>告訴<05046><8685>我，他們在何處<0375>放羊<07462><8802>。
[big5] 那人說：他們已經走了，我聽見他們說要往多坍去。約瑟就去追趕他哥哥們，遇見他們在多坍。
[bbe] And the man said, They have gone away from here, for they said in my hearing, Let us go to Dothan. So Joseph went after them and came up with them at Dothan.

[big5] 他們遠遠地看見他，趁他還沒有走到跟前，大家就同謀要害死他，
[bbe] But they saw him when he was a long way off, and before he came near them they made a secret design against him to put him to death;

[big5] 彼此說：你看！那做夢的來了。
[bbe] Saying to one another, See, here comes this dreamer.

[big5] 來吧！我們將他殺了，丟在一個坑裡，就說有惡獸把他吃了。我們且看他的夢將來怎麼樣。
[bbe] Let us now put him to death and put his body into one of these holes, and we will say, An evil beast has put him to death: then we will see what becomes of his dreams.
[dunv] {<06258>}來罷<03212><8798>！我們將他殺了<02026><8799>，丟在<07993><8686>一個<0259>坑<0953>裡，就說<0559><8804>有惡<07451>獸<02416>把他吃了<0398><8804>。我們且看<07200><8799>他的夢<02472>將來怎麼樣<01961><04100>。
[big5] 流便聽見了，要救他脫離他們的手，說：我們不可害他的性命；
[bbe] But Reuben, hearing these words, got him out of their hands, saying, Let us not take his life.
[dunv] 流便<07205>聽見了<08085><8799>，要救<05337><8686>他脫離他們的手<03027>，說<0559><8799>：我們不可<03808>害<05221><8686>他的性命<05315>；
[big5] 又說：不可流他的血，可以把他丟在這野地的坑裡，不可下手害他。流便的意思是要救他脫離他們的手，把他歸還他的父親。
[bbe] Do not put him to a violent death, but let him be placed in one of the holes; this he said to keep him safe from their hands, with the purpose of taking him back to his father again.
[dunv] {<07205>}又說<0559><8799>：不可<03808>流<08210><8799>他的血<01818>，可以把他丟在<07993><8685>{<0834>}這<02088>野地<04057>的坑<0953>裡<0413>，不可<03808>下<07971><8799>手<03027>害他。流便的意思是要救他<07725><8687>脫離<05337><8687>他們的手<03027>，把他歸還<07725><00>他的父親<01>。
[big5] 約瑟到了他哥哥們那裡，他們就剝了他的外衣，就是他穿的那件彩衣，
[bbe] So when Joseph came to his brothers, they took off his long coat which he had on;

[bbe] And they took him and put him in the hole: now the hole had no water in it.

[big5] 他們坐下吃飯，舉目觀看，見有一夥米甸的以實瑪利人從基列來，用駱駝馱著香料、乳香、沒藥，要帶下埃及去。
[bbe] Then seating themselves, they took their meal: and looking up, they saw a travelling band of Ishmaelites, coming from Gilead on their way to Egypt, with spices and perfumes on their camels.
[dunv] 他們坐下<03427><8799>吃<0398><8800>飯<03899>，舉<05375><8799>目<05869>觀看<07200><8799>，見<02009>有一夥<0736>米甸的以實瑪利人<03459>從基列<01568>來<0935><8802>，用駱駝<01581>馱著<05375><8802>香料<05219>、乳香<06875>、沒藥<03910>，要帶下<03381><8687>埃及<04714>去<01980><8802>。
[big5] 猶大對眾弟兄說：我們殺我們的兄弟，藏了他的血有什麼益處呢？
[bbe] And Judah said to his brothers, What profit is there in putting our brother to death and covering up his blood?
[dunv] 猶大<03063>對<0413>眾弟兄<0251>說<0559><8799>：我們{<03588>}殺<02026><8799>我們的兄弟<0251>，藏<03680><8765>了他的血<01818>有甚麼<04100>益處<01215>呢？
[big5] 我們不如將他賣給以實瑪利人，不可下手害他；因為他是我們的兄弟，我們的骨肉。眾弟兄就聽從了他。
[bbe] Let us give him to these Ishmaelites for a price, and let us not put violent hands on him, for he is our brother, our flesh. And his brothers gave ear to him.
[dunv] {<03212>}{<8798>}我們不如將他賣<04376><8799>給以實瑪利人<03459>，不可<03808>下手<03027>害他；因為<03588>他<01931>是我們的兄弟<0251>，我們的骨肉<01320>。眾弟兄<0251>就聽從了<08085><8799>他。
[big5] 有些米甸的商人從那裡經過，哥哥們就把約瑟從坑裡拉上來，講定二十舍客勒銀子，把約瑟賣給以實瑪利人。他們就把約瑟帶到埃及去了。
[bbe] And some traders from Midian went by; so pulling Joseph up out of the hole, they gave him to the Ishmaelites for twenty bits of silver, and they took him to Egypt.
[dunv] 有些米甸的<04084>商人<0582><05503><8802>從那裡經過<05674><8799>，哥哥們就把約瑟<03130>從<04480>坑<0953>裡拉上來<04900><8799><05927><8686>，講定二十<06242>舍客勒銀子<03701>，把約瑟<03130>賣<04376><8799>給<0853>以實瑪利人<03459>。他們就把約瑟<03130>帶到<0935><8686>埃及<04714>去了。
[big5] 流便回到坑邊，見約瑟不在坑裡，就撕裂衣服，
[bbe] Now when Reuben came back to the hole, Joseph was not there; and giving signs of grief,

[big5] 回到兄弟們那裡，說：童子沒有了。我往哪裡去才好呢？
[bbe] He went back to his brothers, and said, The child is gone; what am I to do?

[big5] 他們宰了一隻公山羊，把約瑟的那件彩衣染了血，
[bbe] Then they took Joseph's coat, and put on it some of the blood from a young goat which they had put to death,

[big5] 打發人送到他們的父親那裡，說：我們撿了這個；請認一認是你兒子的外衣不是？
[bbe] And they took the coat to their father, and said, We came across this; is it your son's coat or not?
[dunv] 打發<07971><8762>人送<0935><8686>{<03801>}{<06446>}到<0413>他們的父親<01>那裡，說<0559><8799>：我們撿了<04672><8804>這個<02063>；請<04994>認一認<05234><8685>是你兒子<01121>{<01931>}的外衣<03801>不是<0518><03808>？
[big5] 他認得，就說：這是我兒子的外衣。有惡獸把他吃了，約瑟被撕碎了！撕碎了！
[bbe] And he saw that it was, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast has put him to death; without doubt Joseph has come to a cruel end.
[dunv] 他認得<05234><8686>，就說<0559><8799>：這是我兒子<01121>的外衣<03801>。有惡<07451>獸<02416>把他吃了<0398><8804>，約瑟<03130>被撕碎了<02963><8800>！撕碎了<02963><8776>！
[big5] 雅各便撕裂衣服，腰間圍上麻布，為他兒子悲哀了多日。
[bbe] Then Jacob, giving signs of grief, put on haircloth, and went on weeping for his son day after day.

[bbe] And all his sons and all his daughters came to give him comfort, but he would not be comforted, saying with weeping, I will go down to the underworld to my son. So great was his father's sorrow for him.

[bbe] And in Egypt the men of Midian gave him for a price to Potiphar, a captain of high position in Pharaoh's house.
