[bbe] Now Abraham gave all his property to Isaac;

[bbe] The same field which Abraham got from the children of Heth: there Abraham was put to rest with Sarah, his wife.

[bbe] These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names in their towns and their tent-circles; twelve chiefs with their peoples.

[bbe] Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean of Paddan-aram, and the sister of Laban the Aramaean, to be his wife.

[bbe] Isaac made prayer to the Lord for his wife because she had no children; and the Lord gave ear to his prayer, and Rebekah became with child.

[bbe] And the children were fighting together inside her, and she said, If it is to be so, why am I like this? So she went to put her question to the Lord.

[big5] 耶和華對他說：兩國在你腹內；兩族要從你身上出來。這族必強於那族；將來大的要服事小的。
[bbe] And the Lord said to her, Two nations are in your body, and two peoples will come to birth from you: the one will be stronger than the other, and the older will be the servant of the younger.
[dunv] 耶和華<03068>對他說<0559><8799>：兩<08147>國<01471>在你腹內<0990>；兩<08147>族<03816>要從你身上<04578>出來<06504><8735>。這族<03816>必強於<0553><8799>那族<03816>；將來大的<07227>要服事<05647><8799>小的<06810>。
[big5] 生產的日子到了，腹中果然是雙子。
[bbe] And when the time came for her to give birth, there were two children in her body.

[big5] 先產的身體發紅，渾身有毛，如同皮衣，他們就給他起名叫以掃【就是有毛的意思】。
[bbe] And the first came out red from head to foot like a robe of hair, and they gave him the name of Esau.

[big5] 隨後又生了以掃的兄弟，手抓住以掃的腳跟，因此給他起名叫雅各【就是抓住的意思】。利百加生下兩個兒子的時候，以撒年正六十歲。
[bbe] And after him, his brother came out, gripping Esau's foot; and he was named Jacob: Isaac was sixty years old when she gave birth to them.

[big5] 兩個孩子漸漸長大，以掃善於打獵，常在田野；雅各為人安靜，常住在帳棚裡。
[bbe] And the boys came to full growth; and Esau became a man of the open country, an expert bowman; but Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.

[bbe] Now Isaac's love was for Esau, because Esau's meat was greatly to his taste: but Rebekah had more love for Jacob.

[bbe] And one day Jacob was cooking some soup when Esau came in from the fields in great need of food;

[big5] 以掃對雅各說：我累昏了，求你把這紅湯給我喝。因此以掃又叫以東【就是紅的意思】。
[bbe] And Esau said to Jacob, Give me a full meal of that red soup, for I am overcome with need for food: for this reason he was named Edom.

[bbe] And Jacob said, First of all give me your birthright.

[big5] 以掃說：我將要死，這長子的名分於我有什麼益處呢？
[bbe] And Esau said, Truly, I am at the point of death: what profit is the birthright to me?
[dunv] 以掃<06215>說<0559><8799>：我將要<01980><8802>死<04191><8800>，這長子的名分<01062>於我有甚麼益處呢？
[big5] 雅各說：你今日對我起誓吧。以掃就對他起了誓，把長子的名分賣給雅各。
[bbe] And Jacob said, First of all give me your oath; and he gave him his oath, handing over his birthright to Jacob.
[dunv] 雅各<03290>說<0559><8799>：你今日<03117>對我起誓<07650><8734>罷。以掃就對他起了誓<07650><8735>，把長子的名分<01062>賣<04376><8799>給雅各<03290>。

[bbe] Then Jacob gave him bread and soup; and he took food and drink and went away, caring little for his birthright.
