1. [big5] 主知道法利賽人聽見他收門徒，施洗，比約翰還多，
   [bbe] Now when it was clear to the Lord that word had come to the ears of the Pharisees that Jesus was making more disciples than John and was giving them baptism
   

2. [big5] （其實不是耶穌親自施洗，乃是他的門徒施洗，）
   [bbe] (Though, in fact, it was his disciples who gave baptism, not Jesus himself),
   

3. [big5] 他就離了猶太，又往加利利去。
   [bbe] He went out of Judaea into Galilee again.
   

4. [big5] 必須經過撒瑪利亞，
   [bbe] And it was necessary for him to go through Samaria.
   

5. [big5] 於是到了撒瑪利亞的一座城，名叫敘加，靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。
   [bbe] So he came to a town of Samaria which was named Sychar, near to the bit of land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph:
   

6. [big5] 在那裡有雅各井；耶穌因走路困乏，就坐在井旁。那時約有午正。
   [bbe] Now Jacob's fountain was there. Jesus, being tired after his journey, was resting by the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.
   

7. [big5] 有一個撒瑪利亞的婦人來打水。耶穌對他說：請你給我水喝。
   [bbe] A woman of Samaria came to get water, and Jesus said to her, Give me some water.
   

8. [big5] （那時門徒進城買食物去了。）
   [bbe] For his disciples had gone to the town to get food.
   

9. [big5] 撒瑪利亞的婦人對他說：你既是猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒瑪利亞婦人要水喝呢？原來猶太人和撒瑪利亞人沒有來往。
   [bbe] The woman of Samaria said to him, Why do you, a Jew, make a request for water to me, a woman of Samaria? She said this because Jews have nothing to do with the people of Samaria.
   

10. [big5] 耶穌回答說：你若知道神的恩賜，和對你說給我水喝的是誰，你必早求他，他也必早給了你活水。
    [bbe] In answer Jesus said, If you had knowledge of what God gives freely and who it is who says to you, Give me water, you would make your prayer to him, and he would give you living water.
    

11. [big5] 婦人說：先生，沒有打水的器具，井又深，你從哪裡得活水呢？
    [bbe] The woman said to him, Sir, you have no vessel and the fountain is deep; from where will you get the living water?
    

12. [big5] 我們的祖宗雅各將這井留給我們，他自己和兒子並牲畜也都喝這井裡的水，難道你比他還大嗎？
    [bbe] Are you greater than our father Jacob who gave us the fountain and took the water of it himself, with his children and his cattle?
    

13. [big5] 耶穌回答說：凡喝這水的還要再渴；
    [bbe] Jesus said to her, Everyone who takes this water will be in need of it again:
    

14. [big5] 人若喝我所賜的水就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裡頭成為泉源，直湧到永生。
    [bbe] But whoever takes the water I give him will never be in need of drink again; for the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life.
    

15. [big5] 婦人說：先生，請把這水賜給我，叫我不渴，也不用來這麼遠打水。
    [bbe] The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be in need again of drink and will not have to come all this way for it.
    

16. [big5] 耶穌說：你去叫你丈夫也到這裡來。
    [bbe] Jesus said to her, Go, get your husband and come back here with him.
    

17. [big5] 婦人說：我沒有丈夫。耶穌說：你說沒有丈夫是不錯的。
    [bbe] In answer, the woman said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have said rightly, I have no husband:
    

18. [big5] 你已經有五個丈夫，你現在有的並不是你的丈夫。你這話是真的。
    [bbe] You have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband: that was truly said.
    

19. [big5] 婦人說：先生，我看出你是先知。
    [bbe] The woman said to him, Sir, I see that you are a prophet.
    

20. [big5] 我們的祖宗在這山上禮拜，你們倒說，應當禮拜的地方是在耶路撒冷。
    [bbe] Our fathers gave worship on this mountain, but you Jews say that the right place for worship is in Jerusalem.
    

21. [big5] 耶穌說：婦人，你當信我。時候將到，你們拜父，也不在這山上，也不在耶路撒冷。
    [bbe] Jesus said to her, Woman, take my word for this; the time is coming when you will not give worship to the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.
    

22. [big5] 你們所拜的，你們不知道；我們所拜的，我們知道，因為救恩是從猶太人出來的。
    [bbe] You give worship, but without knowledge of what you are worshipping: we give worship to what we have knowledge of: for salvation comes from the Jews.
    

23. [big5] 時候將到，如今就是了，那真正拜父的，要用心靈和誠實拜他，因為父要這樣的人拜他。
    [bbe] But the time is coming, and is even now here, when the true worshippers will give worship to the Father in the true way of the spirit, for these are the worshippers desired by the Father.
    

24. [big5] 神是個靈（或無個字），所以拜他的必須用心靈和誠實拜他。
    [bbe] God is Spirit: then let his worshippers give him worship in the true way of the spirit.
    

25. [big5] 婦人說：我知道彌賽亞（就是那稱為基督的）要來；他來了，必將一切的事都告訴我們。
    [bbe] The woman said to him, I am certain that the Messiah, who is named Christ, is coming; when he comes he will make all things clear to us.
    

26. [big5] 耶穌說：這和你說話的就是他！
    [bbe] Jesus said to her, I, who am talking to you, am he.
    

27. [big5] 當下門徒回來，就希奇耶穌和一個婦人說話；只是沒有人說：你是要什麼？或說：你為什麼和他說話？
    [bbe] At that point the disciples came back, and they were surprised to see him talking to a woman; but not one of them said to him, What is your purpose? or, Why are you talking to her?
    

28. [big5] 那婦人就留下水罐子，往城裡去，對眾人說：
    [bbe] Then the woman put down her water-pot and went into the town, and said to the people,
    

29. [big5] 你們來看！有一個人將我素來所行的一切事都給我說出來了，莫非這就是基督嗎？
    [bbe] Come and see a man who has been talking to me of everything I ever did! Is it possible that this is the Christ?
    

30. [big5] 眾人就出城，往耶穌那裡去。
    [bbe] So they went out of the town and came to him.
    

31. [big5] 這其間，門徒對耶穌說：拉比，請吃。
    [bbe] While this was taking place, the disciples were saying to Jesus, Master, take some food.
    

32. [big5] 耶穌說：我有食物吃，是你們不知道的。
    [bbe] But he said to them, I have food of which you have no knowledge.
    

33. [big5] 門徒就彼此對問說：莫非有人拿什麼給他吃嗎？
    [bbe] So the disciples said one to another, Did anyone give him food?
    

34. [big5] 耶穌說：我的食物就是遵行差我來者的旨意，做成他的工。
    [bbe] Jesus said, My food is to do the pleasure of him who sent me and to make his work complete.
    

35. [big5] 你們豈不說到收割的時候還有四個月嗎？我告訴你們，舉目向田觀看，莊稼已經熟了（原文是發白），可以收割了。
    [bbe] You would say, Four months from now is the time of the grain-cutting. Take a look, I say to you, at the fields; they are even now white for cutting.
    

36. [big5] 收割的人得工價，積蓄五穀到永生，叫撒種的和收割的一同快樂。
    [bbe] He who does the cutting now has his reward; he is getting together fruit for eternal life, so that he who did the planting and he who gets in the grain may have joy together.
    

37. [big5] 俗語說：那人撒種，這人收割，這話可見是真的。
    [bbe] In this the saying is a true one, One does the planting, and another gets in the grain.
    

38. [big5] 我差你們去收你們所沒有勞苦的；別人勞苦，你們享受他們所勞苦的。
    [bbe] I sent you to get in grain which you had no hand in planting: other men did that work, and you take the reward.
    

39. [big5] 那城裡有好些撒瑪利亞人信了耶穌，因為那婦人作見證說：他將我素來所行的一切事都給我說出來了。
    [bbe] Now a number of the people of that town had faith in him because of the woman's witness: He has been talking to me of everything I ever did.
    

40. [big5] 於是撒瑪利亞人來見耶穌，求他在他們那裡住下，他便在那裡住了兩天。
    [bbe] So when the people came to him they made request to him to be among them for a time, and he was there two days.
    

41. [big5] 因耶穌的話，信的人就更多了，
    [bbe] And a great number more of them came to have faith in him because of what he himself said.
    

42. [big5] 便對婦人說：現在我們信，不是因為你的話，是我們親自聽見了，知道這真是救世主。
    [bbe] And they said to the woman, Now we have faith, but not because of your story: we ourselves have given ear to his words, and we are certain that he is truly the Saviour of the world.
    

43. [big5] 過了那兩天，耶穌離了那地方，往加利利去。
    [bbe] And after the two days he went on from there into Galilee.
    

44. [big5] 因為耶穌自己作過見證說：先知在本地是沒有人尊敬的。
    [bbe] For Jesus himself said that a prophet has no honour in the country of his birth.
    

45. [big5] 到了加利利，加利利人既然看見他在耶路撒冷過節所行的一切事，就接待他，因為他們也是上去過節。
    [bbe] So when he came into Galilee, the Galilaeans took him to their hearts because of the things which they had seen him do in Jerusalem at the feast--they themselves having been there at the feast.
    

46. [big5] 耶穌又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他從前變水為酒的地方。有一個大臣，他的兒子在迦百農患病。
    [bbe] So he came to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And there was a certain man of high position whose son was ill at Capernaum.
    

47. [big5] 他聽見耶穌從猶太到了加利利，就來見他，求他下去醫治他的兒子，因為他兒子快要死了。
    [bbe] When it came to his ears that Jesus had come from Judaea into Galilee, he went to him and made a request that he would come down to his son, who was near to death, and make him well.
    

48. [big5] 耶穌就對他說：若不看見神蹟奇事，你們總是不信。
    [bbe] Then Jesus said to him, You will not have faith if you do not see signs and wonders.
    

49. [big5] 那大臣說：先生，求你趁著我的孩子還沒有死就下去。
    [bbe] The man said, Sir, come down before my boy is dead.
    

50. [big5] 耶穌對他說：回去吧，你的兒子活了！那人信耶穌所說的話就回去了。
    [bbe] And Jesus said, Go in peace; your son is living. The man had faith in the word which Jesus said to him and went away.
    

51. [big5] 正下去的時候，他的僕人迎見他，說他的兒子活了。
    [bbe] And while he was going down, his servants came to him and said, Your boy is living.
    

52. [big5] 他就問什麼時候見好的。他們說：昨日未時熱就退了。
    [bbe] So he put a question to them as to the hour when he became better; and they said to him, The disease went from him yesterday at the seventh hour.
    

53. [big5] 他便知道這正是耶穌對他說你兒子活了的時候；他自己和全家就都信了。
    [bbe] It was clear then to the father that this was the very time at which Jesus said to him, Your son is living. And he had faith in Jesus, he and all his family.
    

54. [big5] 這是耶穌在加利利行的第二件神蹟，是他從猶太回去以後行的。
    [bbe] Now this is the second sign which Jesus did after he had come out of Judaea into Galilee.
