[big5] 大衛從拉瑪的拿約逃跑，來到約拿單那裡，對他說：我做了什麼？有什麼罪孽呢？在你父親面前犯了什麼罪，他竟尋索我的性命呢？
[bbe] And David went in flight from Naioth in Ramah and came to Jonathan and said, What have I done? What is my crime and my sin against your father that he is attempting to take my life?
[big5] 約拿單回答說：斷然不是！你必不致死。我父做事，無論大小，沒有不叫我知道的。怎麼獨有這事隱瞞我呢？決不如此。
[bbe] And he said to him, Far be the thought: you will not be put to death: see, my father does nothing, great or small, without giving me word of it: would he keep this secret from me? It is not so.
[big5] 大衛又起誓說：你父親準知我在你眼前蒙恩。他心裡說，不如不叫約拿單知道，恐怕他愁煩。我指著永生的耶和華，又敢在你面前起誓，我離死不過一步。
[bbe] But David took his oath again and said, Your father sees that I am dear to you; so he says to himself, Let Jonathan have no idea of this, for it will be a grief to him; but as the Lord is living, and as your soul is living, there is only a step between me and death.
[big5] 約拿單對大衛說：你心裡所求的，我必為你成就。
[bbe] Then Jonathan said to David, Whatever your desire is, I will do it for you.
[big5] 大衛對約拿單說：明日是初一，我當與王同席，求你容我去藏在田野，直到第三日晚上。
[bbe] And David said to Jonathan, Tomorrow is the new moon, and I will not be seated with the king at his table: but let me go to a safe place in the country till the evening.
[big5] 你父親若見我不在席上，你就說：大衛切求我許他回本城伯利恆去，因為他全家在那裡獻年祭。
[bbe] And if your father takes note of the fact that I am away, say, David made a request to me for himself that he might go to Beth-lehem, to his town: for it is the time when his family make their offering year by year.
[big5] 你父親若說好，僕人就平安了；他若發怒，你就知道他決意要害我。
[bbe] If he says, It is well, your servant will be at peace: but if he is angry, then it will be clear to you that he has an evil purpose in mind against me.
[big5] 求你施恩與僕人，因你在耶和華面前曾與僕人結盟。我若有罪，不如你自己殺我，何必將我交給你父親呢？
[bbe] So, then, be kind to your servant; for you have been united with your servant in an agreement made before the Lord: but if there is any wrongdoing in me, put me to death yourself; why take me to your father?
[big5] 約拿單說：斷無此事！我若知道我父親決意害你，我豈不告訴你呢？
[bbe] And Jonathan said, Do not have such a thought: for if I saw that my father was designing evil against you, would I not give you word of it?
[big5] 大衛對約拿單說：你父親若用厲言回答你，誰來告訴我呢？
[bbe] Then David said to Jonathan, Who will give me word if your father gives you a rough answer?
[big5] 約拿單對大衛說：你我且往田野去。二人就往田野去了。
[bbe] And Jonathan said to David, Come, let us go out into the country. And the two of them went out together into the open country.
[big5] 約拿單對大衛說：願耶和華─以色列的神為證。明日約在這時候，或第三日，我探我父親的意思，若向你有好意，我豈不打發人告訴你嗎？
[bbe] And Jonathan said to David, May the Lord, the God of Israel, be witness; when I have had a chance of talking to my father, about this time tomorrow, if his feelings to David are good, will I not send and give you the news?
[big5] 我父親若有意害你，我不告訴你使你平平安安地走，願耶和華重重地降罰與我。願耶和華與你同在，如同從前與我父親同在一樣。
[bbe] May the Lord's punishment be on Jonathan, if it is my father's pleasure to do you evil and I do not give you word of it and send you away so that you may go in peace: and may the Lord be with you, as he has been with my father.
[big5] 你要照耶和華的慈愛恩待我，不但我活著的時候免我死亡，
[bbe] And may you, while I am still living, O may you be kind to me, as the Lord is kind, and keep me from death!
[big5] 就是我死後，耶和華從地上剪除你仇敵的時候，你也永不可向我家絕了恩惠。
[bbe] And let not your mercy ever be cut off from my family, even when the Lord has sent destruction on all David's haters, cutting them off from the face of the earth.
[big5] 於是約拿單與大衛家結盟，說：願耶和華藉大衛的仇敵追討背約的罪。
[bbe] And if it comes about that the name of Jonathan is cut off from the family of David, the Lord will make David responsible.
[big5] 約拿單因愛大衛如同愛自己的性命，就使他再起誓。
[bbe] And Jonathan again took an oath to David, because of his love for him: for David was as dear to him as his very soul.
[big5] 約拿單對他說：明日是初一，你的座位空設，人必理會你不在那裡。
[bbe] Then Jonathan said to him, Tomorrow is the new moon: and it will be seen that you are not present, for there will be no one in your seat.
[big5] 你等三日，就要速速下去，到你從前遇事所藏的地方，在以色磐石那裡等候。
[bbe] And on the third day it will be specially noted, and you will go to the place where you took cover when the other business was in hand, waiting by the hill over there.
[big5] 我要向磐石旁邊射三箭，如同射箭靶一樣。
[bbe] And on the third day I will send arrows from my bow against its side as if at a mark.
[big5] 我要打發童子，說：去把箭找來。我若對童子說：箭在後頭，把箭拿來，你就可以回來；我指著永生的耶和華起誓，你必平安無事。
[bbe] And I will send my boy to have a look for the arrow. And if I say to him, See, the arrow is on this side of you; take it up! then you may come; for there is peace for you and no evil, by the living Lord.
[big5] 我若對童子說：箭在前頭，你就要去，因為是耶和華打發你去的。
[bbe] But if I say to the boy, See, the arrow has gone past you: then go on your way, for the Lord has sent you away.
[big5] 至於你我今日所說的話，有耶和華在你我中間為證，直到永遠。
[bbe] As for what you and I were talking of, the Lord is between you and me for ever.
[big5] 大衛就去藏在田野。到了初一日，王坐席要吃飯。
[bbe] So David went to a secret place in the country: and when the new moon came, the king took his place at the feast.
[big5] 王照常坐在靠牆的位上，約拿單侍立，押尼珥坐在掃羅旁邊，大衛的座位空設。
[bbe] And the king took his seat, as at other times, by the wall: and Jonathan was in front, and Abner was seated by Saul's side, but there was no one in David's seat.
[big5] 然而這日掃羅沒有說什麼，他想大衛遇事，偶染不潔，他必定是不潔。
[bbe] But Saul said nothing that day, for his thought was, Something has taken place making him unclean; it is clear that he is not clean.
[big5] 初二日大衛的座位還空設。掃羅問他兒子約拿單說：耶西的兒子為何昨日、今日沒有來吃飯呢？
[bbe] And on the day after the new moon, that is, the second day, there was still no one in David's seat: and Saul said to his son Jonathan, Why has the son of Jesse not come to the feast yesterday or today?
[big5] 約拿單回答掃羅說：大衛切求我容他往伯利恆去。
[bbe] And answering Saul, Jonathan said, He made a request to me that he might go to Beth-lehem,
[big5] 他說：求你容我去，因為我家在城裡有獻祭的事；我長兄吩咐我去。如今我若在你眼前蒙恩，求你容我去見我的弟兄；所以大衛沒有赴王的席。
[bbe] Saying, Our family is making an offering in the town, and my brothers have given me orders to be there: so now, if I have grace in your eyes, let me go away and see my brothers. This is why he has not come to the king's table.
[big5] 掃羅向約拿單發怒，對他說：你這頑梗背逆之婦人所生的，我豈不知道你喜悅耶西的兒子，自取羞辱，以致你母親露體蒙羞嗎？
[bbe] Then Saul was moved to wrath against Jonathan, and he said to him, You son of an evil and uncontrolled woman, have I not seen how you have given your love to the son of Jesse, to your shame and the shame of your mother?
[big5] 耶西的兒子若在世間活著，你和你的國位必站立不住。現在你要打發人去，將他捉拿交給我；他是該死的。
[bbe] For while the son of Jesse is living on the earth, your position is unsafe and your kingdom is in danger. So make him come here to me, for it is certainly right for him to be put to death.
[big5] 約拿單對父親掃羅說：他為什麼該死呢？他做了什麼呢？
[bbe] And Jonathan, answering his father Saul, said to him, Why is he to be put to death? What has he done?
[big5] 掃羅向約拿單掄槍要刺他，約拿單就知道他父親決意要殺大衛。
[bbe] And Saul, pointing his spear at him, made an attempt to give him a wound: from which it was clear to Jonathan that his father's purpose was to put David to death.
[big5] 於是約拿單氣忿忿地從席上起來，在這初二日沒有吃飯。他因見父親羞辱大衛，就為大衛愁煩。
[bbe] So Jonathan got up from the table, burning with wrath, and took no part in the feast the second day of the month, being full of grief for David because his father had put shame on him.
[big5] 次日早晨，約拿單按著與大衛約會的時候出到田野，有一個童子跟隨。
[bbe] Now in the morning, Jonathan went out into the fields at the time he had said to David, and he had a little boy with him.
[big5] 約拿單對童子說：你跑去，把我所射的箭找來。童子跑去，約拿單就把箭射在童子前頭。
[bbe] And he said to the boy, Go and get the arrow I let loose from my bow. And while the boy was running, he sent an arrow past him.
[big5] 童子到了約拿單落箭之地，約拿單呼叫童子說：箭不是在你前頭嗎？
[bbe] And when the boy came to the place where the arrow was, Jonathan, crying out after the boy, said, Has it not gone past you?
[big5] 約拿單又呼叫童子說：速速地去，不要遲延！童子就拾起箭來，回到主人那裡。
[bbe] And Jonathan went on crying out after the boy, Be quick, do not keep waiting about, go quickly. And Jonathan's boy got the arrow and came back to his master.
[big5] 童子卻不知道這是什麼意思，只有約拿單和大衛知道。
[bbe] But the boy had no idea what was going on; only Jonathan and David had knowledge of it.
[big5] 約拿單將弓箭交給童子，吩咐說：你拿到城裡去。
[bbe] And Jonathan gave his bow and arrows to the boy, and said to him, Take these and go back to the town.
[big5] 童子一去，大衛就從磐石的南邊出來，俯伏在地，拜了三拜；二人親嘴，彼此哭泣，大衛哭得更慟。
[bbe] And when the boy had gone, David came from his secret place by the hill, and falling to the earth went down on his face three times: and they gave one another a kiss, weeping together, till David's grief was the greater.
[big5] 約拿單對大衛說：我們二人曾指著耶和華的名起誓說：願耶和華在你我中間，並你我後裔中間為證，直到永遠。如今你平平安安地去吧！大衛就起身走了；約拿單也回城裡去了。
[bbe] And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, for we two have taken an oath, in the name of the Lord, saying, The Lord will be between me and you, and between my seed and your seed for ever. Then David went away, and Jonathan went into the town.
